Curriculum “Observation of the Universe”

This curriculum focuses on a rapidly evolving frontier where astrophysics, cosmology, and particle physics converge. Research is deeply integrated with international space programs, emphasizing the design of innovative observational techniques, cutting-edge instrumentation, and advanced theoretical modeling.

Research & Training Focus

The programme is designed to equip PhD candidates with broad, multidisciplinary skills to address the current open problems of the Universe. Key areas of investigation include:

  • Multiwavelength & Multi-messenger Astronomy: Monitoring the electromagnetic spectrum and detecting cosmic particles such as protons, nuclei, electrons, antimatter, photons, and neutrinos.
  • High-Energy Phenomena: Studying the most energetic events in the cosmos and their particle components.
  • Gravitational Waves: Investigating signals from compact objects (black holes, neutron stars) and cosmological sources.
  • Space Mission Engineering: Designing new detectors and instrumentation for current and future space-based platforms.
  • Data Science & Modeling: Developing sophisticated data analysis techniques and theoretical frameworks to interpret cosmic observations.
