Roberto Iuppa is a leading figure in Experimental Physics, specializing in particle and astroparticle research. Since joining the University of Trento in 2016, he has bridged the gap between fundamental physics and cutting-edge technological applications in space and ground-based experiments.
Research Areas & International Collaborations
Roberto Iuppa holds key roles in some of the world’s most prestigious scientific collaborations:
- CERN (ATLAS Collaboration): Contributing since 2014 to the ITk project for the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). His work focuses on 3D pixel detectors, muon tracker alignment, and Higgs boson production analysis;
- Space Missions (CSES-Limadou): Leading the Trento group and serving on the international Joint Working Group. He pioneered the use of MAPS sensors for the HEPD-02 detector;
- Astroparticle Physics: Long-standing contributor to the ARGO-YBJ collaboration, investigating cosmic ray anisotropy and atmospheric shower data.

A specialist in detector technology, Prof. Iuppa oversees R&D in:
